Promotional codes, also known as coupons or vouchers, are a credit that can be added to your account once you meet any necessary criteria. Google or our partners will occasionally offer promotional codes to encourage new advertisers to get started with Google Ads. Learn more About promotional codes.

What's the policy?

Most offers require you to meet certain criteria before the credit will show up in your account, and they're typically for new advertisers with new accounts. The terms and conditions for each promotion can vary by location or by promotion. Make sure that you check the terms that came with your promotional code for details about your offer. 

In order to use your credit, you’ll also need to have entered billing details in your account. Keep in mind that promotional credits can only be used towards advertising. If you cancel your account before spending the entire credit, the remaining balance can't be refunded. You can manage your promotions on the Promotions page in your Google Ads account. Examples of promotion terms (non-exhaustive):

  • Most codes need to be applied within 14 days after you first create your Google Ads account.
  • Google cannot accept or replace expired promotional codes.
  • Promotional codes work differently with different payment settings, such as automatic or manual payments.
  • In order to use most promotional codes, your account needs to meet certain criteria. The terms and conditions for each offer vary by promotion, so make sure that you check the details in the promotional material.

What happens if I violate this policy?

Account suspension: An account may get suspended if you have several violations or a serious violation. If this happens, all ads in the suspended account will stop running and we may no longer accept advertising from you. Any related accounts may also get permanently suspended and your new accounts may get automatically suspended at setup. Learn more About Google Ads policy account suspensions.
