Control your preferences

You can access Wallet from your Google Wallet app or from the Lock Screen. Depending on your device, you may also access it from Quick Settings. Learn how to open Google Wallet.

To access Wallet from your lock screen:

  1. Go to Settings and then Display.
  2. Tap Lock Screen.
  3. Turn on Show wallet.

How Google Play services for Wallet handles your data

Google Play Services for Wallet may collect and share certain information and use certain permissions to support wallet related functionality on your device, such as the examples described above.

Permission use
Google play services for Wallet may use device permissions, such as:
  • Location may be accessed to protect the digital payments and verify the transactions.
  • Nearby devices may be identified to locate the terminals for making the payments, tap-use the payment, and identity cards.
  • Camera may be accessed to allow you to easily scan, and add payment cards, COVID vaccine cards, and other cards.
  • Phone information may be used to verify the phone number, detect network type, and improve security.
  • SMS messages may be accessed to perform SMS based verification, like two-factor authentication, to validate the phone number on the payment card.
Additional data collection
Google Play services for Wallet may also collect and store the following data for support related functionality.
  • Data collected upon explicit user input to validate user’s identity, enable payment services, and settle transactions:
    • Personal and payment data such as name, email, billing address, phone number, zip code, card number, CVV code, expiry date, and card images
  • Device and Account identifiers such as Android Device ID, IP address, and Google Account ID are also used in order to enable some of the functionality described above.
