You can share your device with family and friends by creating a user profile for each person. Each user profile has a personal space on the device for custom Home screens, accounts, apps, settings, and more. Learn about what users can do.
Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 9.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.
Delete or switch users
Delete userIf you're the primary user
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap System Multiple users.
- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for
users

- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for
- Tap the user's name.
- Tap Delete user Delete. The user will be removed from the list.
If you're not the primary user
- Open the device's Settings app.
- Tap System Multiple users.
- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for

- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for
- Tap More .
- Tap Delete [username] from this device.
Important: You can't undo this. - The device will switch to the owner's profile.
- From the top of the home screen, swipe down.
- Tap the user icon .
- Tap the user you want to switch to.
Switch users on Android Go
- From the Home screen, tap Switch user .
- Tap a different user. That user can now sign in.
Add or update users
To add or update a user, you must be the device owner.
Add user- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap System Multiple users.
- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for

- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for
- Tap Add user OK.
- If you don't find "Add user," tap Add user or profile User OK.
- If you don't find either option, your device can't add users.
- Enter a name for the new user.
Set up the new user
- After adding a new user, tap Switch to [username]. A pop up will ask "Set up user now?"
- If you're with the new user:
Tap Set up now. Then unlock your screen to set up the Google Account and other details. - If the new user isn't there:
Tap Not now. The next time you switch to this user, they can set up the Google Account and other details.

Update your own profile
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap System Multiple users.
- If you can't find this setting, try searching your Settings app for

- Tap your name.
- To change your profile name, enter a new name and then tap OK.
- To change your profile picture, tap your picture and then take a new photo or choose an existing photo on your device.
Pick which other profiles can make calls & send SMS texts

Types of user profiles
UserA user who isn't the device owner is the profile type for someone who may use your device a lot, like a family member.
All users have their own spaces on the device for personal, custom Home screens, accounts, apps, settings, and more.
A guest profile is for someone using your device for a short time.
Like a user, the guest profile has its own space on the device, but it's easier to delete this space when a guest is done with the device.
An account lets you use a service like Gmail with a single username and password. Learn how to add accounts to your user profile.
A restricted profile lets you control what features and content a user can see. For example, you can restrict the availability of mature content.
