With Google Assistant, you can broadcast voice messages to your rooms and devices. You can broadcast your message to:
- All of your speakers, Smart Displays, and Smart Clocks.
- A specific speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock.
- A specific room that has at least one device with Google Assistant.
Important: Some broadcasting features aren't available in all languages and countries.
Get started
Broadcast from your Android phone or tablet
To send a message from an Android phone or tablet, you need:
- An Android phone or tablet with Google Assistant.
- At least one speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock with Google Assistant built in.
- The same Google Account signed in on your phone and speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock.
- On your speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock, turn off Do Not Disturb.
Broadcast from your speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock
To send a message from a speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock, you need:
- Two or more speakers, Smart Displays, or Smart Clocks with Google Assistant built in.
- All devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
- All devices in the household set up in the Google Assistant app or the Google Home app.
- On your speakers, Smart Displays, and Smart Clocks, turn off Do Not Display.
When you broadcast to your entire home, your message plays on all speakers, Smart Displays, and Smart Clocks that are both:
- On the same Wi-Fi network.
- Signed in to the same accounts as the device you're broadcasting from.
Broadcast a message to your entire home
Say "Hey Google," then:
- "Broadcast [message]."
- "Shout [message]."
- "Tell everyone [message]."
- "Announce [message]."
You can choose which devices in your home to broadcast a message.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Settings Communication Broadcast.
- Under “Broadcast on home devices,” choose a home.
- Choose which devices will broadcast messages.
Broadcast a message to a specific room or device
Say "Hey Google," then:
- "Broadcast to [room name] [message]."
- "Broadcast to [device name] [message]."
For example, you can say:
- "Hey Google, broadcast to the living room, it's time for homework."
- "Hey Google, broadcast to kitchen display, is dinner ready yet?"
Broadcast a preset message
For some common announcements, your speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock can play preset messages. Say "Hey Google, broadcast," then:
- Wake up: "It’s time to wake up."
- Breakfast: "Breakfast is ready."
- Lunch: "It’s lunch time."
- Dinner: "Dinner is served."
- Time to leave: "It’s time to leave the house."
- Arrived home: "I’m home."
- On the way: "I’ll be back soon."
- TV time: "The show is about to start."
- Movie time: "Let’s go to the movies."
- Bed time: "It’s time for bed."
Turn broadcasts for your mobile device on or off
Tip: If you don't want to send and receive broadcasts on your phone or tablet, you can turn off broadcasts for your personal devices. This setting applies to all of your personal devices.
- On your Pixel phone, open the Settings app .
- Tap Communication Broadcast.
- Turn Broadcast on personal devices on or off.
