You can make and receive Duo calls on your speakers and smart displays if you have Google Duo set up.

Set up Duo calling
Important: Before you follow these steps, if you already use Duo, connect your Google Account to your Duo phone number in the Duo app.
On a speaker- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app .
- At the bottom, tap Home .
- Touch and hold your speaker.
- At the top right, tap Device settings Communication Duo calling.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app .
- At the bottom, tap Home .
- Touch and hold your smart display.
- At the top right, tap Device settings Voice and video calls Duo video calling.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

Make a call
You can make Duo calls with your voice. On smart displays, you can also use your screen.
Call someone
To start a call, say “Hey Google”, then:
- “Call [contact] on Duo”
- Or, "Video call [contact]"
Call a group
You can make or receive calls with a group on a smart display. Learn how to set up a group.
To start a call:
- Say “Hey Google, start a group call".
- On the screen, tap a group.
Use call controls
On a speakerAnswer or decline a call
Say “Answer the call” or “Decline the call”.
End a call
Say “End the call” or “Hang up”.
Mute or unmute a call
Say "Mute call" or "Unmute call".
Answer or decline a call
- Say "Answer the call" or tap Answer.
- Say "Decline the call" or tap Decline.
End a call
- Say "End the call" or "Hang up".
- Or, tap End call.
Mute or unmute a call
- Say "Mute call" or tap Mute .
- Say "Unmute call" or tap Mute .
Turn off video
- Say "Turn off the camera" or tap Video .
- Or, at the top, use the switch.
Hide contact names on smart displays
When someone calls your smart display and you have personal results turned on, your smart display shows their name from your Google Contacts. To hide contact names on this device, turn off personal results.
When you turn off personal results:
- Google Assistant doesn’t use your Google Contacts.
- You get a phone number or email on your screen instead of a contact name.
- You can’t start a call with a contact name like “Call Maria”.
Call your speaker or smart display
What you need
- Google Assistant on your phone
- Duo set up on your phone
- Your Google Account connected to your Duo phone number
- The same Google Account with Duo on your phone and your speaker or smart display
Call your device
- On your phone, open the Google Assistant app .
- Say "Hey Google”, then “video call [smart display name]” or "video call home".
