This article is about Business Profiles that aren’t found on Maps because they’re marked as a duplicate or a copy of another profile. If the same business appears twice on Maps, go to How to merge duplicate Business Profiles.
Fix an owner conflict
Profiles are marked as duplicates when there’s already a profile verified for the same business on Google. To manage someone else’s Business Profile, you can request access.
- On Google Search or Maps, find your business.
- If the business already has a profile on Google, you’ll find a message.
- If you're authorized to manage the profile, you can request ownership from the current profile owner. Learn how to request ownership of a Business Profile.
- Click Request access.
- Fill out the form.
- Click Submit.
Eligibility for 2 Profiles at the same address
You can have 2 or more Business Profiles at the same address if they're:
- Distinct businesses
- Both eligible for Google Business Profiles

Delete a duplicate profile from your account
Important: If you own both profiles, keep the verified profile.
You don’t need to remove a duplicate profile. It doesn’t show up on Maps. If you want to clean up your account, you can remove one or more Business Profiles from your account.
Report a business that was incorrectly marked as a duplicate
If 2 Business Profiles were merged, which are actually 2 distinct and eligible businesses, contact support to appeal the duplicate status.
To appeal a duplicate status, both businesses must be eligible and distinct from one another. If you serve customers at your location, you’re asked for evidence of permanent signage that clearly shows both businesses.
Why profiles are marked as duplicates
There should only be one profile per business. If your businesses offer multiple services, you:
- Must add or edit your services
- Must not add a separate business page
To avoid having your profile marked as a duplicate:
- Make sure it’s distinct from other Business Profiles you own.
- Do not create profiles which are already on Maps.
