When you make certain business changes, you can ask us to move your reviews from an old Business Profile to a new one, or we may move reviews automatically for you. If significant business changes occur, we may remove reviews that are no longer relevant. Not all business changes qualify to move or remove reviews.
Business reviews help your business and customers only when the reviews are relevant, helpful, and reliable.
Move your reviews
Create a new Business Profile
Important: You shouldn’t create a new Business Profile because of a change in a physical location or ownership.
If you inadvertently create and verify a new Business Profile because of a change in a physical location or a change in ownership, you can transfer your reviews from the old profile to the new one. To transfer your reviews, contact us.
Change your physical location
If you move your business to a new location and keep the same business name, Google generally transfers the reviews to the new location. Exceptions include businesses heavily tied to their locations, like hotels, golf courses, or scenic attractions.
Can't remove reviews
Ownership changes can’t remove reviews
When a business gets a new owner or manager but doesn’t change its name, we don’t remove reviews.
You can use owner responses to reply to previous reviews and clarify any changes or improvements to the services your business provides. Learn how to read and reply to your reviews.
Most name changes can’t remove reviews
When a business makes a minor name change or when a business with multiple locations changes its name, we don’t remove reviews.
Tip: If your business changes its name but doesn’t meet the criteria above, it’s considered a new business.
Temporary or permanent closure can't remove reviews
If your business closes temporarily or permanently, the reviews remain attached to the business. Users can leave new reviews for businesses that are temporarily closed, but no new reviews can be added for permanently closed businesses.
