Create & manage tasks in Google Calendar

In Google Calendar, you can create, view, and change tasks.

Important: Only you can view your tasks in Google Calendar.

Create a task

Create a task in Calendar

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On your calendar, select an option:
    • Click an empty slot.
    • At the top left, click Create.
  3. Click Task.
  4. Enter your task details.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: You can find a list of all “Pending tasks” from the last 365 days in the current day.

Create a task from Tasks in Calendar

  1. On your computer, select an option:
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter your task details.
  4. Click Save.

Tips:

  • To add a task to an existing list, at the top, click Add a task.
  • Tasks with a date also appear on your calendar.

View, edit, or delete tasks

To appear on your calendar, tasks must have a date.

View your tasks
  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left panel, go to “My calendars.”
    • To find “My calendars,” you may have to click Menu Menu.
  3. Make sure the “Tasks” box is checked.

Important: You can find a list of all “Pending tasks” from the last 365 days in the current day.

Hide all tasks
  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left panel, under “My calendars,” uncheck the box next to Tasks.
    • To find “My calendars,” you may have to click Menu Menu.
Edit a task
  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the task you want to edit and then Edit task Edit task.
  3. Update any task details.
  4. Click Save.

Tips:

  • You can also edit tasks from the side panel or from Tasks in Calendar.
  • If you want to change the date and time of the next repeating task in a series, click the date.
  • To edit the date and time for all tasks, click the repetition info.
Mark a task as complete
  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the task you want to update.
  3. At the bottom right, click Mark completed.

Tips:

Hide completed tasks

To hide completed tasks crossed out in your calendar, you can adjust your settings.

  1. On the right of “Settings,” click the dropdown .
  2. Unselect Show completed tasks.

In your settings

  1. On your computer, go to Google Calendar.
  2. At the top right, click Settings.
  3. On the left, click View options.
  4. Turn off Show completed tasks.
Report an assigned task as spam
  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the calendar grid, click the task you want to report.
  3. At the top right, click Options More.
  4. Click Report as spam and then Report as spam.

Delete a task
  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the task to update and then Delete Delete reminder.
Find & edit pending tasks

To check all uncompleted tasks from the last 365 days:

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. While viewing a day's schedule, click Pending tasks.
  3. In the pop-up list, choose how to update preferred tasks:
    • To edit a task, hover to the right of the task. Click Edit Edit task, make your changes, and click Save.
    • To delete a task, hover to the right of the task. Click Edit Edit task and then Delete Delete reminder.
    • To complete a task, hover to the far right of the task. Click Mark completed.

Tip: You can deactivate the list of pending tasks when you hide your tasks from Google Calendar. Learn how to hide all tasks.
