View Chrome browser crash details

For administrators who manage Chrome browser for a business or school.

As an admin, you can use your Google Admin console to see details about any Chrome crashes that occurred on managed browsers over time.

Chrome browser crash events are available in Chrome log events on the Audit and Investigation page. Learn more about Chrome log events and crash events.

Turn on event reporting for browser crash events

Before you can see any of the browser crash events, you must set up the report.

  • Turn crash event reporting.
    1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

      Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

    2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Devicesand thenChromeand thenApps & extensionsand thenUsers & browsers.

      If you signed up for Chrome Browser Cloud Management, go to Menu and then Chrome browserand thenApps & extensionsand thenUsers & browsers.

    3. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users and enrolled browsers, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced). Show me how

    4. Go to and select Event reporting.
    5. Do one of the following:
      • Select Enable event reporting to turn on all event reporting.
      • If you want to turn on only crash event reporting, do the following:
        1. Select Additional settings.
        2. Under Default event types, select Customize.
        3. Check the Browser crash box.
    6. Click Save.

View the report

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Devicesand thenChromeand thenReportsand thenChrome crash.
  3. (Optional) On the left, select an organizational unit. By default, all Chrome crashes are shown.

Note: If no unique device visits are displayed, check that filters are not applied or choose different organization units.

Filtering

The browser crash report supports the following types of filtering:

  • Major versions of Chrome
    • Check the major versions of Chrome at the bottom of the chart 
  • Minor versions of Chrome
  • Device OS platform
  • Channels of Chrome
  • Timeline

Actions

You can view the report information in different ways.

Show table

Shows a table view of the crash events.

View audit logs

Shows all the details about the crash events in the Admin console Chrome Audit log based on the filters you selected. You can  use CSV Export to export the crash event data by clicking Export in the Chrome Audit log.
