For administrators who manage ChromeOS devices for a business or school.
You can purchase ChromeOS devices bundled with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade or Chrome Education Upgrade. Each bundled device has an integrated perpetual upgrade that covers the life of the device.
If you have standalone ChromeOS devices, you need to purchase a standalone upgrade for each device that you want to manage.
Note: Your account type determines what Chrome features are available to you. For example, if your organization has an education account and you enroll a ChromeOS device bundled with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade, you can't access Chrome features that are exclusive to enterprise accounts.
See below for service and order options as well as details on how to purchase upgrades.
Options for bundled devices
Each bundled device comes with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade or Chrome Education Upgrade so you don’t have to purchase upgrades separately.
- Upgrade covers the life of the device.
- You can’t transfer an upgrade from one device to another in the same domain, even if you encounter a hardware issue and need to replace it.
- You can re-enroll a device in another domain, unless you blocked transfer by policy, such as forced re-enrollment.
Options for standalone devices
How you pay for standalone upgrades depends on what type you order.
Annual
Chrome Enterprise Upgrade and Kiosk & Signage Upgrade
- Bought per order term and can be renewed when the term ends.
- I got upgrades using the Google Admin console—Add your billing information to your upgrade in the Admin console to automatically renew upgrades at the end of each term. If you opt out of automatic renewal or don’t add your billing information, you’ll have to manually renew upgrades when the term ends.
- I have upgrades with an authorized partner—When the term ends, you need to manually renew upgrades from your authorized partner.
- Currently, there is no flexible plan available.
- You can unenroll a device and transfer the upgrade to another device (of any model) in the same domain.
- You can't transfer an upgrade to a device in another organization account.
- If you purchase additional upgrades mid-term, the cost is prorated and the new upgrade expires at the same time as your original order.
Perpetual
Chrome Education Upgrade and Chrome Nonprofit Upgrade
- When you purchase upgrades, they’re assigned to a pool until you use them to enroll standalone ChromeOS devices. Each upgrade covers the life of the device that it's enrolled to.
- If you encounter a hardware issue and need to replace a device, you can transfer the upgrade to another device of the same model (or equivalent manufacturer-provided replacement).
- You can’t transfer an upgrade from one device model to another in the same domain.
- You can’t transfer an upgrade to a device in another organization account.
- Transfers are audited.
- We recommend reviewing the Auto Update policy for each device before you order a perpetual upgrade.

- If you can see your partner's contact information in the Admin console's Billing section, you're an online resold customer.
