To save a file, make sure to put it in a permanent folder. Any file in the Downloads folder could get deleted if your Chromebook runs out of space.
Move downloads to a permanent folder
To keep your files long term, you can move them from the Downloads folder into a permanent folder.
- In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher

- Open Files

- On the left, select Downloads.
- Drag your file to another folder, such as My Drive.

Deleting downloads is permanent
When you delete a file in your Chromebook's Downloads folder, it's permanent and can't be undone. Only delete files when you won't need them later.
