Irresponsible data collection & use policies for CSS product pages

This policy only applies to the opportunity in the CSS program that allows CSSs to show CSS product pages on Google. For other Shopping policies, visit the Merchant Center page.

Our policy

Google wants customers to trust that information about them will be respected and handled with appropriate care. As such, CSSs, their merchants, and retailers shouldn’t misuse this information, nor collect it for unclear purposes or without appropriate security measures.

Examples of what's not allowed

Unsafe collection or use of personal information

Using security measures inappropriate for the type of information being collected.

  • Examples: Collecting personal information: first and last name, mailing address, phone number, numbers for credit or debit cards, bank and investment accounts, wire transfers, national identity, login email and password, tax ID, pension, healthcare, driver’s license or social security numbers over an unsecured page which isn’t SSL protected and without a valid certificate

Misuse of personal information

Using personal information in ways customers haven’t consented to.

  • Examples: Re-selling users' contact information or using images of users in listings without their consent
