Test audio, video, and rich media creative events

Before you start serving a creative with audio, video, or other interactive elements in a campaign, we recommend testing the creative events to make sure all interaction metrics will be available in reports. To test creative events, preview the creative, then open the Details panel and check the event summary and log. Interact with the creative preview and you should see custom and standard events in the summary. This information is only available for video, audio, and rich media creatives.

Supported event types for each creative format

Not every creative will include all supported event types. Check with your creative developer to confirm which events they set up tracking for.

Preview and test events

  1. Preview a creative.
  2. Click Show details . A panel opens with additional information about the creative.
  3. If it's not expanded, click Event summary to expand the section. If you don't see an event summary panel, the creative type doesn't support rich media events.
  4. Click some buttons in the creative. If the creative has a video, play the video and try out the video controls. Check that everything is working. As events are triggered, the counts should go up in the event summary.

Check event counts and time

To review the total events, counts, times, and event types, open the event summary.

Add filters to find events

As you interact with a creative preview and review events, you can add filters to find specific events.

  • Enter an event name in the "Event name" field to find an event.
  • To review only custom or only standard events, select one of these options next to the Type filter.
  • To review only events that were triggered or only events were not triggered, select either Triggered or Untriggered next to the Show filter.

Check event order and history

To review a moment by moment log of events as they are recorded, open the event log. Events include a time stamp, event type, and event name. As events are triggered in the preview, each new event is displayed at the top of the list.

Clear events and start over

If you need to clear out the event list and start over, click Clear log. Only the event log is cleared. Event counts will not be zeroed out. To clear event counts, click Refresh.
