Campaign and workflow updates

Proximity targeting for YouTube & partners line items

Proximity targeting is available for YouTube & partners line items, excluding YouTube Programmatic Guaranteed and Instant Reserve deals. With this feature, users can leverage Display & Video 360 to reach customers when location matters most.

Proximity targeting allows you to use real-world location as a context signal to reach customers that may be most interested in your message. You can define a target radius (in miles or kilometers) of individual points of interest, street addresses, and latitude/longitude coordinates, allowing ads to appear around the selected geo locations. Display & Video 360 uses exchange-provided coordinates along with its geolocation technology to predict user location to determine whether or not to serve an ad.

Inventory holds on Instant Reserve deals for YouTube

Holds allow you to reserve the inventory and quoted CPM for 72 hours (or longer, depending on the product and proposed start date). If a hold is not reserved within the stated time frame, it will automatically expire and you’ll need to request a new quote, which may be different. Smart expiration for Instant Reserve deals for YouTube

An Instant Reserve deal for YouTube that is not eligible to serve for four consecutive days will now expire automatically. This can happen when there is no creative assigned, the creative is not approved, or the creative is paused. Learn more about Instant Reserve deals for YouTube

Insights updates

Updates to Added Reach measurement

The Added Reach measurement methodology has been updated to simplify added reach activation and better reflect the benefits of frequency management. Previously, marketers and agency partners had to consolidate specific combinations of mixed media or transaction types under a single frequency managed campaign to activate Added Reach measurement. Marketers and agency partners can now activate Added Reach measurement by applying a campaign-level frequency cap across any mix of media channels and transaction types.

The campaign-level Added Reach widget also now shows the aggregate number of additional unique users reached, campaign-to-date (up to 93 days max), rather than the rolling last two weeks of data.

Updates to frequency management for YouTube reservation line items

Frequency management helps marketers and agency partners deliver a better user experience and reduce budget waste by controlling the number of times people see their ads. Once an overall campaign’s frequency goal has been reached, Display & Video 360 now attempts to stop showing more ads to that user from your Instant Reserve or YouTube Programmatic Guaranteed deals while still prioritizing and ensuring that they deliver the agreed number of impressions – just like Programmatic Guaranteed deals do with publishers on Google Ad Manager and third-party exchanges. Advertisers can review the added reach widget at the campaign-level to understand the incremental reach gained through a unified frequency cap.
