Feature availability
- This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
- To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.
- For users with access to Workspace Labs, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
Each item (text, shape, line, image, GIF, sticker, or video) on a scene’s canvas in Vids has its own object track in the timeline at the bottom of the Vids window. The object track allows you to customize when an item enters and leaves the scene.
View & customize timing using object tracks
To view and customize object tracks for your video:
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- To view all object tracks in a scene click Show timing above the timeline.
- Optional: To show timing for selected objects, next to Show timing , click Timing menu Show timing for selected.
- To view multiple tracks at once, press Shift and click on the objects you want to select or drag your cursor across them to multiselect.
- To shorten or lengthen the timing of objects, hover your mouse over the left or right edge of the object track when the blue handle appears, click and drag to adjust the duration.
- To change when an object appears in the scene, click and drag the object track left or right.
- Tip: This will only work if the object track is shorter than the scene.
- To close this view, click Hide timing .
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
