Animate text, shapes & media
Animate different object types (including texts, shapes, images, and videos) within a scene of your video that includes:
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Click on a scene.
- Click on the object

in the toolbar below the object or right-click the object you want to animate
- In the Animation side panel, select an animation style.
- For example, fade, slide, or rise.
- Select your preferences:
- To change when the animation will appear in the video, under “Animate,” select Enter & exit, Enter, or Exit.
- To change the speed of the animation, under “Duration,” adjust the slider.
- For text, you can choose to animate by character, word, paragraph, or complete text.
Animation Add a photo effect
To add motion to create dynamic visual effects from static images, use photo effects.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Select a scene in your timeline.
- Click on the photo
- In the Animation side panel, select a photo effect.
- Customize how long you want a single loop of the animation to be and select whether you want the effect to reverse on loop.
- Tip: For the “Slide” animation effect, direction can also be customized.
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
