Add object animations & photo effects in Vids

Animate text, shapes & media

Animate different object types (including texts, shapes, images, and videos) within a scene of your video that includes:

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. Click on a scene.
3. Click on the object Animation in the toolbar below the object or right-click the object you want to animate Animation .
4. In the Animation side panel, select an animation style.
   • For example, fade, slide, or rise.
5. Select your preferences:
   • To change when the animation will appear in the video, under “Animate,” select Enter & exit, Enter, or Exit.
   • To change the speed of the animation, under “Duration,” adjust the slider.
   • For text, you can choose to animate by character, word, paragraph, or complete text.

Add a photo effect

To add motion to create dynamic visual effects from static images, use photo effects.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. Select a scene in your timeline.
3. Click on the photo Animation in the toolbar below the photo or right-click on an image on the canvas Animation .
4. In the Animation side panel, select a photo effect.
5. Customize how long you want a single loop of the animation to be and select whether you want the effect to reverse on loop.
   • Tip: For the “Slide” animation effect, direction can also be customized.
