  2. New: Persistent navigation bar in Classroom

    Teachers and students can now use a navigation drawer in Classroom. On the upper left, to expand or collapse the navigation drawer, click Menu . On the left, to expand the navigation drawer, hover over the bar. The navigation drawer makes it easier for teachers and students to navigate, discover, and use new features within Classroom. The navigation drawer is: Always visible, either in a collapsed or expanded state, regardless of what page teachers and students are on. Collapsed by default. To expand or collapse the navigation drawer based on preference, teachers and students can click Menu .

    Teachers can now use some of their favorite EdTech tools as add-ons within Classroom to share engaging activities and content with their class. Add-ons can be attached to assignments, quiz assignments, questions, materials, or announcements. Teachers can choose from any add-ons their admin has installed. Learn more about the feature.

  5. Beta: Classroom add-ons

    Classroom add-ons is a new feature that allows you to bring your favorite content and activities from top EdTech tools right inside Classroom. Admins can pre-install add-ons for their whole domain at once, or by group or organizational unit. Add-ons are also viewable on mobile for teachers and students. The Classroom add-ons beta will be available in English in the US for the Google Workspace for Education Plus and Teaching and Learning Upgrade editions.   6. New: Schedule assignments across multiple classes

    Teachers and co-teachers can now schedule assignments, materials, questions, and announcements across multiple classes. This helps teachers more easily organize work and timelines when managing more than one class. This feature is available on the computer version of Classroom.

    SIS grade export is now available for the Follett Aspen student information system (SIS). Administrators can connect Classroom to Aspen so that teachers can link their classes and export students' grades. This feature is available to school districts that use Follett Aspen version 6.2 or above.     We’re making the Classroom Android app work offline or with intermittent connections. Students will be able to start their work offline, review their assignments, open Drive attachments, and write assignments in Google Docs—all without an internet connection.   11. Making Classroom video meetings easier and more secure

    We’ve added several new features to Google Meet in Classroom, making it easier and more secure: The class Meet link is now accessible on the side of the class stream, so students can easily join and teachers can manage the link from the stream. Students will be directed to a waiting room until a teacher has officially joined the class Meet link. Guests not on the class roster will have to "ask to join" and be admitted by the teacher before they can participate, so no unintended participants join the meetings. All designated co-teachers for a class will automatically be co-hosts in the meeting.…

  12. New: Securely sync rosters directly from Clever

    Google has partnered with Clever to provide automated student information system (SIS) rostering for Google Classroom. Admins can handle the setup via Clever, so teachers will no longer need to manually create classes and invite students to join them.   13. New: Easily respond to comments in email notifications

    January 30, 2023 We’re making Classroom email notifications more functional and easier to use. With in-line replies for comments, teachers and students will be able to easily stay up to date and respond to communication within Classroom. Public and private comment notifications will have the freshest information, like the latest comment threads, and you can now easily respond to comments within the email itself. This will enable teachers to quickly reply to their students without having to switch back and forth between their email and Classroom. Learn more.
