Clever setup
To set up the Google Classroom roster sync, the District Administrator in Clever and a Super Administrator in Google Workspace must use Clever to initiate the process. One person may hold both roles.
If your district is interested in Google Classroom rostering, create a Clever account.
- Clever should respond to your request within 24 hours.
- Set up takes about one day.
- Many districts can launch within a week.
If you have a Clever account, you can request roster import in your Clever dashboard.
FAQs
Which SISs are compatible with the roster import feature?Any district can set up a sync with Clever, regardless of their SIS.
- Districts that use a homegrown SIS or one not directly supported by Clever can set up an automated SFTP sync.

The Google Classroom rostering app won't create, modify, or delete user accounts based on Clever data. You must create Clever accounts separately in Google Workspace for Education to roster them to Google Classroom classes.
