Use Classroom analytics with Google Workspace for Education Plus editions, formerly G Suite Enterprise for Education.
Teachers can use Classroom analytics to:
- Get a centralised view on Classroom activity data for each class that they teach.
- Easily identify which students might need extra support.
Find the analytics page for your class
Teachers have access to the Classroom analytics page by default. To view the analytics class page as a teacher, you must first have the following:
- A Google Workspace for Education Plus licence assigned to you. Learn more about Google Workspace for Education editions.
- On your computer, go to classroom.google.com.
- To view analytics for your class, on a class card in the homepage or in the header bar in a class, click Analytics .
Data in the class analytics page
Data in the Classroom analytics page:
- May take up to 24 hours to update. The last updated time is shown above the date range selector.
- Only reflects activity in Google Classroom and doesn't include data stored outside Classroom, such as data stored in your SIS.
- Includes data on classes that have been created or updated within the last 365 days.
- Will not appear for archived classes.
Navigate your class analytics page
Select a date range- From the class analytics page, select the date range drop-down.
- Select the time range that you want to get data for.
The 'Assignment completion' section shows the percentage of all assignments due during this time period that were turned in by students. Bear in mind that not all Classroom assignments are intended to receive submissions in Classroom, so this figure doesn't include assignments with zero submissions.
Tip: Select a bar on the graph to filter the tables below and see only students within that group.
The 'Average mark' section shows an average of all marked Classroom assignments due during the time period that you select. For classes that use marking scales, the calculation is based on the maximum percentage range.
Important: Marks shown in Classroom analytics don't include marks stored outside of Classroom, such as an SIS.
The 'Active students %' section shows the percentage of all students in the class who interacted with this class during the selected time period. Some examples of interactions include page views, assignment submissions, comments and posts.
From the class analytics page, you can drill down to see detailed information about student assignments.
On the left of a student's name, you can click on View assignments . This will direct you to the class page to view the list of assignments and details for that student.Troubleshoot issues when you use Classroom analytics
Scenario |
Action to take |
---|---|
I can't find the analytics page for my class. |
Contact your Workspace administrator to make sure that you have a Google Workspace for Education Plus licence assigned. Also note that analytics data will only be supported for classes that have been created or updated within the last 365 days. |
I get an 'Error loading data' message. |
Try to reload the page. If the error persists, report the issue. |
There's missing assignment or mark data. |
The data on the dashboard reflects marks that you enter into Google Classroom for assignments due within the time period that you select. Bear in mind that not all assignments are intended for Classroom to manage and mark. Assignment completion figures do not include assignments with zero submissions. Classroom also doesn't include assignment or mark data stored outside of Classroom, such as data stored in your SIS. Analytics are updated daily and it may take up to 24 hours for an update that you make in Classroom to be reflected on the analytics page. If you still can't find data that you believe you entered into Classroom, report the issue. |
