When using Elastifile Cloud File system, client may want to use it's own private DNS server.
Configuring DNS on Elastifile is done only on EMS (Elastifile Management server), none of the other instance/servers - Storage nodes or Replication agent, needs DNS to be configured.
1) To perform the procedure ssh to the EMS server and login as root -
vi /etc/resolv.conf
2) Add the new DNS server on top of the existing one (in this example the new DNS server is 8.8.8.8)
# Generated by NetworkManager
search project-abcde-172804.internal google.internal
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 169.254.169.254
search project-abcde-172804.internal google.internal
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 169.254.169.254
3) Save the changes and exit.
4) Restart the EMS service -
systemctl restart emanage
5) Check new DNS configuration by pinging a private DNS record configured on this DNS server - for example the SMTP MTA server.
