A technician will arrive within 30 minutes of your appointment start time. They’ll give you a call shortly before they arrive. Please note that we recommend keeping your existing internet service until GFiber is installed at your business.
What to know before we get there
- Before your appointment, please make sure you can sign into the GFiber website. You can reschedule your installation appointment up to 2 hours in advance within your account or by using the Google Fiber app.
- You'll need your username and password to access the Google Fiber app and set up your wireless network during your installation appointment. (We recommend writing them down and keeping them someplace handy.)
- Your installation appointment will take several hours and you must be present during your entire appointment window.
On the day of your installation, a technician will:
1. Bring GFiber inside your business
2. Install your GFiber equipment
If you opted for one or no static IPs: The technician will connect the Fiber Jack to the GFiber Wi-Fi 6E Router, which will provide internet service for your wired and wireless networks.
If you requested multiple static IPs: You’ll need to use your own router and you will be responsible for connecting your router to the Fiber Jack.
Please note that if you’re using your own router, we highly recommend that you work with your IT manager to configure the static IP settings in order to help minimize any disruption in service.
It's important to remember that walls and other barriers can impact your wireless signal. To get the strongest wireless signal possible, we recommend that you keep your router off the floor, out of closets and cabinets, and away from walls and other large objects.
3. Show you how to get the fastest internet speeds
The technician will position your router to optimize your connection. We recommend connecting your computer to the GFiber router with an Ethernet cable to get the fastest possible speed.
If you're using your own router, please make sure it fits these recommended specifications. Our customer support team won't be able to help with routers manufactured by third parties.
