Install a Network Box

Most Network Box customers are eligible to upgrade to a Nest Wifi Pro Router. To learn more, visit the Router upgrade for Network Box customers article.

To remove an old Network Box:

  1. Disconnect the old Network Box's power cable from the wall outlet.

  2. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the old Network Box, but leave its other end connected to the Fiber Jack.

  3. To return the old Network Box, see Return a GFiber device.

To install a new Network Box:

  1. Connect the ethernet cable from the Fiber Jack to the WAN port on the new Network Box.

  2. Connect the new Network Box's power cable to an electrical outlet.

As soon as you connect it to power, the Network Box starts to power on.

To test the Network Box:

  1. Check the LED on the front of the Network Box.

When it is properly connected, it lights up solid blue. If the LED does not light up solid blue within 30 seconds, contact GFiber customer support.

  2. Connect your computer to the Network Box with an ethernet cable, and run a speed test at speedtest.net

To check upload speed on a mobile device, use speedtest.net app or visit fiber.google.com/speedtest.

With a 1 Gig plan, you should see upload and download speeds of close to 1000 Mbps.

Depending on the type of computer, age of the computer, which browser you use, what other applications are running on the computer, and a number of other factors, your computer might not test as fast as you expect. If you see exceptionally slow speeds that you cannot explain, however, contact GFiber customer support.
