GFiber offers an optional phone battery backup that can power your GFiber Phone service for up to 24 hours.
Some important things to note:
- GFiber Phone services require electricity to operate. This means that during a power outage, you won't be able to make or receive calls — including 911 calls — unless you have a phone battery backup.
- You’re responsible for obtaining and maintaining your phone battery backup. GFiber is not liable for service failures during power outages, including those caused by the lack of or malfunction of a phone battery backup.
- We don’t provide support or take responsibility for the ongoing maintenance or management of any phone battery backup equipment you purchase.
How to get phone batter backup
If GFiber Phone is available in your area, you can purchase an optional phone battery backup unit when you sign up for service or add GFiber Phone to your existing service.
This phone battery backup option, which provides up to 24 hours of backup power to maintain 911 service on your GFiber Phone, costs $1,230. If you choose to purchase it, a technician will deliver and set up the unit during your GFiber installation appointment.
Please note that GFiber doesn’t offer phone battery backup units for purchase after you’ve already ordered GFiber Phone service. However, you can purchase compatible phone battery backup units from third-party retailers for around $1,200. For more information, check out these links:

- Avoid contact with other liquids, direct sunlight, excessive dust, or humidity.

Operational guidelines
Please follow the operational guidelines below for your phone battery backup unit:
- Plug the battery backup directly into a wall outlet. Avoid using surge protectors or extension cords.
- Our 24-hour phone battery backup consists of three 8-hour battery packs (each containing a UPS and external battery) for a total of six components. To maintain service during extended outages (more than eight hours), you’ll need to manually swap the power supplies for your Fiber Jack, Network Box, and Phone Box between the UPS units at approximately 8 and 16 hours.
