Using multiple Fitbit devices on one account
Important: You can't connect multiple devices that use the Fitbit Gallery to one account. For Fitbit Charge series, Fitbit Inspire series, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense series, Fitbit Versa series, and Google Pixel Watch series, only connect one of these devices to your account at a time.

If you connect more than one Fitbit device to the same account, note the following:

  • If you forget to remove one Fitbit device before you put on another, the overlap of data is reconciled to provide the most accurate information possible. For best results, don't wear more than one device at a time and sync each device before you remove it and wear another.
  • Only one person can use a Fitbit account. When you create an account, you provide personal information, such as height and weight, to calculate certain data.
  • If you have more than one Fitbit device that receives notifications from your phone, notifications might appear on one or more of your Fitbit devices.
  • A Fitbit device can only pair with one phone. If you have multiple phones, you receive notifications only from the phone connected to your Fitbit device.

Scales

Important: If you're unsure which scale you own, turn the scale over and remove the battery cover to check how many batteries it contains:

  • Aria uses 4 AA batteries
  • Aria 2 uses 3 AA batteries and has “Aria 2” written on the back of the scale
  • Aria Air uses 3 AAA batteries.
For more information about how to use your scale, go to How do I use my Fitbit scale?

What router settings do I need to set up and sync Aria?

Aria connects to your wireless home network and works with any Wi-Fi router that uses the following standards:

  • 802.11b frequency setting
  • WEP / WPA / WPA2 personal security
  • Automatic (DHCP) IP setup (static IP configurations aren't supported)

Your SSID and password should contain only alphanumeric characters (e.g. A-Z, 0-9). If you experience issues with a network that uses special characters, change the name of the network to only use alphanumeric characters, and try to connect again.

Can I use a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to set up Aria?

A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot should only be used if a wireless router is unavailable. Consider the following information when you set up your scale through a hotspot:

  • Connecting Aria to a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot requires that the mobile device be persistently in this mode. The device’s battery may drain quickly.
  • To complete the setup process with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, you need a second wireless device to connect to the hotspot. For example, if you use an iPhone as a hotspot, you need either another mobile device or a computer to proceed through either of the set up methods explained in How do I set up Aria?
  • Your hotspot needs to be configured similar to the same specifications as a wireless router. For the specs, go to What router settings do I need to set up and sync Aria?

How do I set up Aria?

To set up your scale through the web-based method, you need a Wi-Fi enabled computer, phone, or tablet. Make sure you know your Wi-Fi password and that it doesn't exceed 31 characters.

Note: If you want to set up your Aria again after you make changes to your network, go to How do I use my Fitbit scale?

To set up your Aria scale:

  1. Restart the computer, phone, or tablet that you want to use to set up your scale.
  2. Make sure your browser allows cookies.
  3. If you use a computer:
    1. Place your scale within 10 feet of your router.
    2. Ensure that your router is compatible with the 802.11b protocol. For more information, go to What router settings do I need to set up and sync Aria?
    3. If the router is connected to your computer with an Ethernet cable, unplug it. The router and computer must be connected over Wi-Fi.
  4. Open a web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet and go to Fitbit scale setup.
  5. Tap Get started, then tap it again when you find the pop-up message.
  6. Sign in to your fitbit.com account.
  7. Personalize your Aria with a name and the initials you'd like the scale to display when it recognizes you.
  8. Remove a battery from your Aria scale and reinsert it after 10 seconds to put the scale into setup mode. Tap Continue when the scale's display says "SETUP ACTIVE."
  9. Switch your computer, phone, or tablet to the scale's Wi-Fi network (this will appear as the word "Aria" followed by 6 characters).
  10. Return to your web browser and tap I'm Connected. You'll find a list of available wireless networks.
  11. Tap the name of your home wireless network. If you can't find your home wireless network, tap Refresh Networks to scan again. If you still can't find your network, tap Join Other Network to enter your network name and password manually.
  12. Enter your network password. Remember that it's case-sensitive.
  13. Tap Submit, and then immediately check your scale's screen as it attempts to connect to your network.
    • If you find a check mark or a smiley face, Aria is connected and you can stand on the scale to complete a weigh-in.
    • If you find an error message, go to How do I use my Fitbit scale?
Aria 2
To set up your Fitbit Aria 2, create an account and connect your scale through the Fitbit app on your phone.
Important: If you already have a Fitbit account and the Fitbit app, skip to How do I add a scale to my existing account?

Router settings

Aria 2 connects to your wireless home network and works with any Wi-Fi router that uses the following standards:

  • 802.11b/g/n frequency setting
  • WEP / WPA / WPA2 personal security
  • Automatic (DHCP) IP setup (static IP configurations aren't supported)
  • Both the network name and password must be no more than 32 characters long

We don't recommend a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to set up Aria 2, as it may slow down the sync process and prevent an update. The use of a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot requires the device to remain persistently in this mode, which may drain the battery quickly and use excessive data.
