What you need to set up Fitbit Ace LTE for your child
- The Fitbit Ace LTE
- The Ace Band and charging cable included with your watch purchase
- A compatible Android or iOS phone that’s on:
- Android: Version 11.0 or newer
- iOS: Version 15.0 or newer
- Ensure your phone is connected to the internet through Wi-Fi
- The latest version of the Fitbit Ace app:
- Get the app on Google Play Store
- Get the app on the Apple App Store
Note: If you can't find the Fitbit Ace app in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, confirm that the address associated with your Google Account or Apple account is located in a supported country or region.
- You own a Google Account
Note: A Google account for your child is not required before getting started. During the setup process, the app guides you to create a child’s profile, or if you have a current Google Family, select a child from your family group.
- Be located in a supported country or region, and your account is associated with a supported country or region
- When setting up this watch for your child, you must be their parent. If you have an existing Google Family and are creating a new child account, you must be the Family Manager
Note: If setting this up for yourself, you must be 13 or older and your account must not be supervised. Proceed to Set up the watch by yourself.
How to set up Fitbit Ace LTE for your child
1. Before you start
- Charge your phone.
- On your phone, turn on Bluetooth.
2. Turn on Fitbit Ace LTE
- Make sure the Fitbit Ace LTE is turned on by holding down the top right side button (If the device needs charging before you begin setup, you'll get this screen on the watch.)
3. Sign in to the Fitbit Ace app
- On your phone, open the Fitbit Ace app and log in with your Google account.
- Tap My child will wear the watch if you’re setting up for a child, then continue to step 4.
If you’re setting up the watch for yourself, tap I will wear the watch and proceed to Set up the watch for yourself.
If you don’t have an existing Google Family, a family group will be automatically created when you create a new child. Learn more.
5. Select your Ace Pass plan
- Select either an Annual or Monthly Ace Pass data plan. An Ace Pass is required to activate the watch and complete setup.
Note:
- The Ace Pass enables an LTE connection that powers calling, messaging and location sharing, without needing your child to have their own phone or new data plan.1 It also gives your child access to all the games in the Fitbit Arcade to get them moving.2
- The Ace Pass is linked to your child’s account. If you factory reset, replace, or purchase a new Fitbit Ace LTE, you’re not required to re-subscribe if you use the same child account.
- Select a payment method to complete your purchase.
6. Connect Fitbit Ace LTE to your phone to complete set up
- Ensure your phone is near the Fitbit Ace LTE with Bluetooth turned on. Be sure to tap through the options on the watch until you get to the following screen:
- On the phone, a prompt will appear and ask you to turn your device on, select Next and follow the instructions to select the Fitbit Ace LTE and begin pairing.
- A matching pairing code will be displayed on both the app and watch.
If the codes match: On your phone, tap Pair. The pairing process will begin. It can take a few minutes to complete.
If the codes do not match: Check that no other Fitbit Ace LTE is nearby and try again. If the codes still don't match, check Troubleshoot Fitbit Ace LTE set up issues.
If the watch doesn’t display the 6-digit pairing code: Check if the device name on the watch matches the device you selected on your phone.
7. Connect to Wi-Fi
- On your phone, tap Connect Wi-Fi.
- Select and join a Wi-Fi network.
8. Authorize adding your child’s account onto the watch
You will get a prompt to sign in to your account again. Next, the eSIM profile is activated.
9. Your child is now ready to move!
10. Grant permissions
To receive notifications and answer calls, you need to allow access to notifications and microphone on your phone. Tap Continue Allow OK on both prompts.

If you’re setting up Fitbit Ace LTE for yourself, follow these steps
- On the login page, select Sign in or Create an account.
- Select I will wear the watch.
- The page shows an alert about setting up the watch without supervision. Tap Ok, continue to proceed.
- Review the Terms of Service, and toggle the Google services you want to use. Once done, tap I accept.
- Review the Privacy notice, and tap Agree to continue.
- To get consent and subscribe to Ace Pass, pass the phone to your parent.
- Once your parent is on the Thanks parent page, they can hand the phone back to you. Tap Ok, got it! to continue.
- Ensure your phone is near the Fitbit Ace LTE with Bluetooth turned on. Be sure to tap through the options on the watch until you get to the following screen:
- On the screen, a prompt will appear and ask you to turn your device on, select Next and follow the instructions to select the Fitbit Ace LTE and begin pairing.
- A matching pairing code will be displayed on both the app and watch.
If the codes match: On your phone, tap Pair. The pairing process begins and it can take a few minutes to complete.
If the codes do not match: Check that no other Fitbit Ace LTE is nearby and try again. If the codes still don't match, check Fix Fitbit Ace LTE setup and phone pairing issues.
If the watch doesn’t display the 6-digit pairing code: Recheck if the device name on the watch matches the device you selected on your phone.
- On your phone, tap Connect Wi-Fi.
- Select and join a Wi-Fi network.
- Once connected to Wi-Fi, you’ll get a prompt to sign into your account again to authorize adding your account to the watch.
- To allow Fitbit Ace LTE to receive notifications from your phone, select Allow.
- Once the update is complete, you’re ‘Ready to move!’ The app redirects you to a page where you can manage and customize your watch.
