Factory reset your Fitbit Ace LTE

A factory reset can help resolve specific issues you may encounter with your Fitbit Ace LTE, including:

  • A forgotten PIN or passcode that cannot be reset via the Fitbit Ace app
  • A setup error
  • Assigning a new user to your watch

Reset your watch

Perform a factory reset on your watch

  1. Ensure the watch is turned on. 
  2. Long press the top button (On some versions, swipe down) > tap Settings.
  3. Select System  Disconnect & reset.
  4. If a new user will be using the watch after your reset is completed or if you’ve experienced a device activation issue, set the toggle option on to Erase eSIM.
  5. Tap the check mark to confirm.

Perform a factory reset via the Ace App

  1. On your child’s card, tap Settings.  
  2. Select Device Control Reset Fitbit Ace LTE.
  3. Tap Continue.
Note: Resetting the watch will delete all data including messaging and call history from the internal storage. Any other data should be restored to the watch when set up again for the same user.

Perform a factory reset on your watch with a lock screen

  1. If you’re presented with a lock screen and have forgotten the PIN code, hold down both side buttons for approximately 16 seconds. Ignore any screens that come up.
  2. Once you feel the watch vibrate, release buttons and immediately hold down the bottom button.
  3. The watch will enter the Fastboot options menu.
  4. Use the bottom button to navigate to Recovery mode, then use the top button to make the selection.
    Note: If you are presented with a 'No command' screen and appear stuck, hold down the top side button, then swipe up slowly from bottom to top. You will then find the option to Wipe data or factory reset.
  5. Use the bottom button to navigate to Wipe data or factory reset, then use the top button to make the selection. 
  6. Use the bottom button to navigate to Factory data reset, then use the top button to make the selection. 
  7. Use the top button to select Reboot system now.

Perform a factory reset via Family Link

If your child is under 13, you can use Family Link to remove a child's account from a device.

  1. On your parent phone, open the Family Link app .

  2. Select your child.

  3. Tap Controls  Devices.

  4. Select your child’s device.

  5. Tap Reset device & delete data.

Set up your watch again

After you reset your watch, you'll want to set it up again via the Fitbit Ace app

  1. On your phone, open the Fitbit Ace app .
  2. Tap your profile picture on the top right. 
  3. Select + Add a Fitbit Ace LTE and follow the setup instructions.

What happens when you perform a factory reset on your Fitbit Ace LTE

When you perform a factory reset:

  • The data stored on your watch is erased. This includes messaging and calling history.
  • The data associated with the account on the watch is backed up. This will be restored onto the watch when setting up again for the same user.
