You can find your recent chats in Gemini Apps. You can pin, rename, and delete your chats so the important ones are easy to find.
Important: If you're using Gemini Apps with a personal account, the features below are only available if you have Gemini Apps Activity turned on. If you’re using Gemini Apps with a work or school account, your Gemini Apps Activity is controlled by your Google Workspace administrator and you can’t delete chats.
Find your pinned & recent chats
In the Gemini web app- On your Android phone or tablet, go to gemini.google.com.
- At the top, tap Menu . Under "Recent," you can find your pinned and recent chats.
- To show more chats, tap Show more .
- On your Android phone, open Gemini .
- To the right of "Recent," tap Show more .
- Gemini Advanced users may find “Chat & Gems” instead of “Recent.”
Pin a recent chat
In the Gemini web app- At the top, tap Menu .
- Under “Recent,” tap the chat you want to pin.
- At the top, tap More Pin .
- Optionally, edit the name of your chat.
- Tap Pin. You can find your pinned chat at the top of the “Recent” section.
- On your Android phone, open Gemini .
- To the right of "Recent," tap Show more .
- Gemini Advanced users may find “Chat & Gems” instead of “Recent.”
- Next to the chat you want to pin, tap More Pin .
Unpin a chat
In the Gemini web app- At the top, tap Menu .
- Under “Recent,” tap the chat you want to unpin.
- At the top, tap More Unpin .
- On your Android phone, open Gemini .
- To the right of ”Recent,” tap Show more .
- Gemini Advanced users may find “Chat & Gems” instead of “Recent.”
- Next to the pinned chat you want to unpin, tap More Unpin .
Rename a chat
In the Gemini web app- At the top, tap Menu .
- Under “Recent,” tap the chat you want to rename.
- At the top, tap More Rename .
- On your Android phone, open Gemini .
- To the right of ”Recent,” tap Show more .
- Gemini Advanced users may find “Chat & Gems” instead of “Recent.”
- Next to the chat you want to rename, tap More Rename .
Delete a chat from pinned & recent chats
Important:
- When you delete a chat from your pinned and recent chats, it's also deleted from Gemini Apps Activity.
- If you’re using Gemini Apps with a work or school account, you can’t delete your Gemini Apps chats.
- At the top, tap Menu .
- Under “Recent,” tap the chat you want to delete.
- At the top, tap More Delete .
- On your Android phone, open Gemini .
- To the right of ”Recent,” tap Show more .
- Gemini Advanced users may find “Chat & Gems” instead of “Recent.”
- Next to the chat you want to delete, tap More Delete .
What happens when a chat is deleted
Important: The article below is for users with a personal account. If you’re using Gemini Apps with a work or school account, you can’t turn off your activity, delete your activity, or change your auto-delete settings. Learn more about using Gemini Apps with a work or school Google Account.
If you delete a chat in pinned and recent chats, it also deletes the related activity from Gemini Apps Activity. If data in Gemini Apps Activity is deleted, then the activity won't appear in recent and pinned chats.
If you turn off Gemini Apps Activity, it doesn’t delete your past data, but you can manually delete it anytime at myactivity.google.com/product/gemini.
Conversations that have been reviewed or annotated by human reviewers are not deleted when you delete your Gemini Apps activity because they are kept separately and are not connected to your Google Account. Instead, they are retained for up to three years.
Even when Gemini Apps Activity is off, your conversations will be saved with your account for up to 72 hours to allow Google to provide the service and process any feedback. This activity won’t appear in your Gemini Apps Activity.
