Due to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) card storage regulations, starting 1 October 2022, Google can no longer save customer card details for accounts whose billing address is in India (card number, expiry date, etc.) in the current format. However, with your authorisation, we can save your card details in a format that complies with the new RBI regulations and keeps your sensitive card details secure.
If you’re using Visa or Mastercard, you only need to make one manual payment using your existing card details to authorise us to save your card in the new format. To avoid having to enter your card details again later, it’s recommended that you make this single manual payment before 30 September 2022.
In the unlikely event that we’re unable to save your Visa or Mastercard in a compliant format by 30 September 2022, you’ll need to re-enter your card information every time you make payments later.
If you’re using RuPay, American Express, Discover or Diners Card, we will no longer store your card information after 30 September 2022 as card storage as per the new format is not supported for these card networks yet.
Starting 1 October 2022, American Express, Diners and Discover cards will not be supported for payments on Google Ads. RuPay cards will continue to be supported but you’ll have to enter your RuPay card details every time you make a payment.
