Data quality and alerts
Data quality summarizes the effectiveness of the offline data you input into your account. This effectiveness is measured by how well-formed and valid the data is. Well-formed data means that the offline events you input are formatted properly. Valid data means that Google Ads can process it properly.
You can read on how you can ensure your data is both well-formed and valid in the Improving your offline conversion diagnostics section below.
Types of data quality
There are 5 types of data quality for your offline diagnostic data: Excellent, Good, Needs attention and No recent data.
Excellent
Excellent means that at least 90% or more of the data about your offline conversion events are well-formed and valid. You won’t see any alerts at this data quality level as your uploads are considered fully optimized.
Good
Good means that between 70 to 90% of the data about your offline conversion events are well-formed and valid. You’lll still see alerts at this data quality level, but your uploads are in a healthy state and these alerts are improvements that aren't significantly impacting your conversion reporting.
Needs attention
Needs attention means that below 70% of data about your offline conversion events are well-formed and valid. You’ll need to check the data you input to ensure that they can be effectively used by Google Ads and meet the formatting requirements. This data quality level shows alerts that should be addressed and could significantly be impacting your conversion reporting.
No recent data
No recent data means that no events have been received in the last 28 days. It could also mean that there are other issues with the data you’re importing. This data requires immediate attention to ensure it doesn’t impact your conversion reporting and bidding results.
Alerts
Alerts tell you if there are errors in the data you’ve imported. Alerts are grouped by the type of errors. Each error type is arranged in descending order by how much of your data is affected.
Alerts indicate whether data is affected because they’re not well-formed or if they’re invalid. Possible errors include duplicate conversions with the same actions, conversion actions that aren’t compliant with specific policies or conversion actions that are created too recently.
History
The History panel shows uploaded events and events with errors over time. You can set the History panel to show trends by day or by jobs.
In the “By day” setting, you can view total data quality trends over time with percentage of errors. You can easily identify anomalies and issues that could affect your offline diagnostics. The “By day” setting can show you your trend history for the last 7 days.
In the “By job” setting, you can view the data quality and errors of each job. A job refers to a batch of one or more offline conversion events uploaded into Google Ads. Jobs are listed from with the most recent on the right and the least recent on the left. The “By job” setting can show you the last 7 jobs you’ve uploaded into your account.
Improve your offline data diagnostics
The effectiveness of your online data diagnostics relies on the quality of your data. Without high-quality inputs, the success of your offline data diagnostics can be severely affected, limiting its usefulness for your long-term planning. Your offline data is measured by how well-formed it is, by how valid the data are and if they adhere to privacy measures.
Well-formed
Well-formed offline data means that you followed proper formatting when inputting them into your account. For example, personally identifiable information has to be hashed when you input it. If the data you add isn’t well-formed, Google won’t use the data.
Valid
Valid offline data means that Google Ads can properly process the data you input. For example, you need to make sure that the offline events you input can be properly tracked for the diagnostics to be accurate.
Privacy measures
Make sure that the data you input follows Google Ads’ privacy policies. For example, if you’re using apps, your offline data must comply with the App Tracking Transparency policy.
