Build an asset group

An asset group is a set of creatives used to create an ad depending on the channel it’s being served on. It's a best practice to organize asset groups by a common theme, like you organize your ad groups.

You can create one asset group when you build your campaign and add additional asset groups to existing campaigns. Learn more About how asset groups work

Instructions

1. Add assets

Add headlines, images, logos, videos, and, if relevant, extensions related to a theme or audience to start your asset group. Performance Max will assemble them into relevant ad formats and show the most relevant creatives.

2. Use custom labels from page feeds

Page feed custom labels allow you to specify which URLs from your page feed will be included in ads generated from each asset group.

3. Add audience signals

Audience signals help Google AI optimize your campaign to your selected goals. Adding them is optional, but it can help guide machine learning models.

Asset groups best practices

  1. Add as many assets as possible, including up to:
    • 15 headlines
    • 5 descriptions
    • 20 images
    • 5 logos
    • 5 videos in different orientations
  2. Use the Ad Strength indicator to ensure your assets will drive the best performance.
  3. Ensure your assets meet quality guidelines.
  4. Create variations of assets to help find the top performing creative.

Allow our system at least 2-3 weeks to get to know your assets and the market conditions before evaluating their performance. Replace low performing assets with ones similar to high performing assets as defined in the asset report.
