About enhanced asset reporting for App campaigns (Beta)

Enhanced asset reporting allows you to access app asset level details, new custom reports, and additional metrics, so you can review and understand your App campaign’s performance at the asset, campaign, and network levels.

This article explains what enhanced asset reporting is, the benefits from using it, and how it works.

Benefits

Enhanced asset reporting helps you:

  • Further customize your reports on your assets and campaigns, letting you drill down to the specific information that you need.
  • Measure the performance of your assets by asset type, and at the campaign and network levels.
  • Make informed decisions that can optimize the performance of your current and future assets and campaigns.

How enhanced asset reporting works

The Report Editor allows you to analyze and present your performance data in more detail. You can create custom tables and charts directly in Google Ads, without having to download your data in a separate sheet. With enhanced asset reporting, you’ll get even more information about your App campaigns from the Report Editor. Learn more about how to Create custom reports in Report Editor.

Custom reporting features

Use these existing features alongside enhanced asset reporting to get the most out of your app asset reports.

  • Data load times: Since asset level detail will be loaded daily, you can receive detailed app asset information on a daily basis.
  • Report download: You can download your reports in a variety of formats, such as, but not limited to, .csv, .xml, and .pdf.
  • Report scheduling: You can schedule your reports to be emailed to you on an ongoing basis.
  • Save as: You can customize reports by adding or removing various metrics and dimensions as you like. Then, when you click “Save as”, your new customized report will be made available to you.
  • Report filtering: You can filter your reports so that you can view the specific information you need.
  • Dashboards: You can create a custom dashboard and have multiple reports available to you in the format you choose.

Custom reports

New app custom reports have been added to the custom reporting area of Google Ads.

  • App asset performance: This custom report is for when you want to review the performance of your individual app assets by asset type.
  • App campaign performance: This custom report is for when you want to review the overall performance of your App campaigns.
  • App network performance: This custom report is for when you want to review the performance of your App campaigns by network, helping you understand which networks are producing the greatest results for your App campaign.

Additional reporting chips

With enhanced asset reporting, the following metrics and dimensions have been added as reporting chips. These can be utilized in any app custom report.

Dimensions

  • App asset: This is the content of the asset, such as a YouTube video URL.
  • App asset id: This is the unique identifier for the asset.
  • App asset name: This is the name of the asset, if the name exists. It can be the image file name.
  • App asset state: This lets you know whether the asset is linked to the current version of the ad.
  • App asset status: This is the policy approval status of the asset.
  • App asset orientation: This is the orientation of the asset, whether it’s in landscape or portrait.
  • App asset type: This lets you know how the asset is used in the ad, whether it’s a headline, description, or otherwise.

Metrics

  • Conversion rate (install): This metric shows the number of installs your ads are receiving per click.
  • Conversion rate (in-app action): This metric shows the number of in-app events your ads are receiving per click.
  • Installs per (1000) impressions: This metric shows the number of installs your ads are receiving per impression per thousand.
  • Installs: This lets you know how many times your app was downloaded after interacting with your ad.
  • In-app actions: This lets you know how many times someone performed one of the conversions tracked in your app for this campaign.
  • Cost / Install: This shows how much you spend, on average, for each new download of your app on average. It’s your cost divided by the number in the “Installs” column.
  • Cost / In-app action: This shows how much you spend, on average, each time someone performs one of your chosen in-app actions. It’s your cost divided by the number in the “In-app actions” column.
  • Participated installs: This shows how many install conversions we attribute to your App campaigns for installs (ACi) or pre-registration (ACpre). These campaigns are counted in separate accounts and will continue to receive individual attribution.
  • Participated in-app actions: This shows how many post-install conversions we attribute to your App campaigns for installs (ACi) or engagement (ACe). These campaigns are counted in separate accounts and will continue to receive individual attribution.
