How it works
- Install the Enhanced Conversions Assist extension: In the Chrome Web Store, search for "EC Assist." Click EC Assist, then click Add to Chrome to install.
- Complete a test conversion on your website: This allows the EC assist tool to analyze your enhanced conversions setup and identify any problems.
- Review the identified issues and troubleshoot them: The report will show you a breakdown of your enhanced conversions configuration, any detected issues, and steps to resolve them.
Before you begin
In order to use the enhanced conversions assist tool effectively, review the advertiser and agency prerequisites below, then make account updates where needed.
- Confirm that you have set up and implemented enhanced conversions for web using Google Tag Manager or the Google tag.
- Confirm that you have access to the Google Ads account you're troubleshooting for, and that you’re able to review conversion action details like conv. ID and conv. label.
- Confirm that you have access to the linked Google Tag Manager account (if your tag is implemented via Google Tag Manager).
- Confirm that you have access to a Chrome browser to install Chrome extensions.
The Google Ads enhanced conversions assist tool may not work with third-party tag managers. Currently, the enhanced conversions assist tool:
- Can validate if code or API implementation is working, but can’t provide troubleshooting steps for them.
- Won’t troubleshoot “Address” related error messages
- May not work if tags and/or user data is in an iFrame element
- May not work if you’re using a CMS or form plugin that doesn’t allow user data to be read by Google tags
Instructions
- In the Chrome Web Store, search for "EC Assist", then click Add to Chrome.
- After you've downloaded the tool, open the extension and input your website domain or landing page.
- Follow the instructions prompted to complete test conversions on your website. This allows the enhanced conversions assist tool to analyze your setup and identify issues.
- Review the list of detected conversions, then select the issue you'd like to diagnose and troubleshoot.
