Your ads under review

Check your ad’s status and get help if you need it. Most reviews are completed within one business day, but more complex reviews can take longer.

The "Status" column of your ads page signals whether or not an ad is active and the reason for its status. The status of an ad reflects changes that you make to that ad or its campaign and whether or not that ad's been reviewed based on Google Ads policies.

How to find your ad status

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon.
  2. Click the Campaigns drop down in the section menu.
  3. Click Ads.
  4. Check the "Status" column to know an ad's status.

How to interpret your ad status

The "Status" column from the Ads page displays information about the current state of your ad at the time you sign in. Here are the different types of ad statuses:

  • Paused
  • Pending
  • Ended
  • Removed
  • Under review
  • Eligible
  • Eligible (limited)
  • Not eligible
  • Disapproved

Four ad statuses that you can control:

  • Paused: Not eligible because you paused it. Pausing an ad means that your ads don't show or accumulate new costs until resumed. You can also check "Campaign paused" or "Ad group paused" from your Ads page if you paused the campaign or ad group that contains this ad. Click the 3-dot icon in the navigation panel and select "Show paused" to know which campaigns and ad groups have been paused. Even when ads are paused, they're subject to review. We review paused ads to ensure that they comply with Google Ads policies and applicable laws, and also so that ads that become Eligible while under review can run as soon as you unpause them.
  • Pending: Not eligible, but scheduled to begin at a future date. You can also check "Campaign pending" or "Ad group pending" from your Ads page if the campaign or ad group that contains this ad is pending.
  • Ended: Not eligible because it's past its scheduled end date. You can also check "Campaign ended" or" Ad group ended" from your Ads page to know if the campaign or ad group that contains this ad has ended.
  • Removed: Not eligible because you removed it. Removing an ad means that ads don't show or accumulate new costs until re-enabled. You can also check "Campaign removed" or "Ad group removed" from your Ads page if you removed the campaign or ad group that contains this ad. Click the 3-dot icon in the navigation panel and select "Show removed" to know which campaigns and ad groups have been removed.

Check the review status

Under review is a status given to ads that are being reviewed to ensure they are safe, appropriate, and comply with advertising policies.

Google reviews most ads within one business day, though some complex reviews may take longer. If your ad is under review for longer than one full business day, check your ad’s status. Google reserves the right to prioritize reviews to ensure the overall stability of system operations.

Check the approval status of an ad or asset (English)

Instructions for checking the review status of an ad or asset

To check the status of an ad or asset:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon.
  2. Find the list of your ads you want to check status in the Ads page. To check an assets status, go to the Assets page.
  3. To check an ad or asset status, review the “Status” column. If you hover over each status, you’ll notice a more detailed explanation of what the status means.

To view more detailed policy information (or to check the status of a paused ad), enable the "Policy details" in the table.

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon.
  2. Find the list of your ads you want to check status of a paused ad in the Ads page. To check an assets status, go to the Assets page.
  3. Click the column iconA picture of the Google Ads columns icon above the statistics table, then click Modify columns.
  4. Click Association from the table view.
  5. In the "Attributes" section, click select the checkbox next to "Policy details."
  6. Click Apply.

The Policy details column provides information about why a disapproved ad isn't Eligible, or why an "Eligible (limited)" ad is limited to a certain audience.

Detailed policy information is readily available in the Google Ads web UI. If you create campaigns using another product (for example, Google Ads Editor, Google Ads mobile app, 3rd party product), navigate to the Google Ads web UI for full policy information.

What each status means

You’ll notice a status both before your ad or asset is eligible and after it’s been reviewed.

Before review, your ad will have this status:

  • Under review: The ad is still being reviewed and will be eligible to serve if we determine that it complies with our policies. The review process typically takes one business day.

After review, your ad can run if it has one of these statuses:

  • Eligible: The ad complies with the Google Ads policies, so it can be shown to all audiences.
  • Eligible (limited): The ad can run, but not in all situations because of policy restrictions, such as trademark use or gambling-related content.
  • Eligible (limited all locations): The ad can’t run in your targeted locations because of policy restrictions and targeting settings. The ad can run, however, to people interested in your targeted locations.
  • Serving: The video ad is eligible to appear on YouTube.

After review, your asset can run if it has one of these statuses:

  • Approved: The asset complies with the Google Ads policies, so it can be shown to all audiences.
  • Approved (limited): The asset can run, but not in all situations because of policy restrictions such as trademark use or gambling-related content.

If you believe your asset has been incorrectly labeled for a policy restriction and should not be serving as Approved (limited), please follow the instructions outlined here.

After review, your ad can't run if it has one these statuses:

  • Disapproved: The ad cannot run because its content or its destination violates Google Ads policy. If an ad is disapproved, it will not receive impressions. To fix a disapproved ad, follow the guidelines here.
  • Not eligible: The ad is not serving because the campaign is paused, removed, ended, or pending or the ad group is paused, removed, or incomplete.

Not related to ad review, your ad might have another status such as Paused, Ended, and Pending.
