Before you begin
When you create a campaign, you choose your bid strategy. The actual CPC bid amount (percent or fixed) must be set at the ad group level, and can additionally be set at the hotel group level.
Set or edit CPC bids for an ad group
You set your CPC bid when you create an ad group. To edit your ad group bid:
- In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon .
- Click Overview.
- Select 'Hotel campaigns'.
- Click Ad groups in the page menu.
- Find your ad group and click the pencil icon next to the 'Default max CPC' or 'CPC%' column.
- Enter the new amount and click Save.
Set or edit bids for hotel groups
If you want highly specific CPC bids, you can set or edit them for hotel groups. Doing so allows you to set bids for different categories of hotels, such as by country./region, individual hotels or hotel class. To edit your hotel group bids:
- In your Google Ads account click the Campaigns icon .
- Click Overview.
- Select 'Hotel campaigns' and choose your campaign.
- Click Hotel groups in the page menu.
- Click the pencil icon next to the 'max. CPC' or 'max. CPC%' columns.
- Enter your new bid amount.
Bid precedence
The more specific bid is always used. For instance, if you set your bid for an ad group at 2% CPC, and a hotel group in that ad group at 1% CPC, the hotel group bid will be used.
