Use your voice to set and manage timers on your Google Nest or Home speaker or display. Set a general timer to alert you when a specified time has passed, or set a sleep timer to stop playing media at the desired time.
Note: To schedule your lights and other smart devices to turn off at a specific time, create a Routine.
Set a general timer
The timer alert sound will play only on the speaker or display that you used to set it up.
You can set, manage, and delete general timers on any Nest speaker set up in the same home and Wi-Fi network in the Google Home app.
Tip: On Nest displays, some timers might display an animation and sound that matches the timer name. Try naming a timer for food, homework, or naps.

Stop a ringing timer by touch
- Google Home: Tap the top.
- Google Nest Mini: Tap the center.
- Google Home Mini: Press and hold either side.
- Google Home Max: Tap the line on the top or right side.
- Google Nest Audio: Tap the center.
- Google Nest displays: Tap the circle on the screen.
- Google Nest Wifi point: Tap the center.
Control timer volume
Use the Google Home app
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Favorites or Devices ..
- Tap and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings Audio Alarms & Timers.
- Adjust the volume.
Use the Nest display screen
Use the Quick settings menu to change the volume of alarms and timers on your Nest display.
- On your Nest display, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Volume set the alarm and timer volume to the desired level. Note: If the alarm and timer volume control doesn't open automatically, tap Expand .
Sleep timers
You can set a sleep timer to turn off media that's playing on your speaker or display. You can set one sleep timer per device. You can only set, manage, and delete sleep timers on the speaker or display the timer was set up on.
Sleep timers might not work with some forms of media, such as podcasts.
