With your Google Nest or Home speaker or display, you can listen to the current weather and upcoming forecast for your location using only your voice.
Step 1. Manage your weather settings
You must set the following location and weather preferences in the Google Home app to get relevant weather information:
- Set your device address.
- Set your preferred weather unit.
Step 2. Ask for weather information
Here are some ways to talk with your Google Assistant on your speaker or display about weather and forecasts:

- “Hey Google, how is the weather?" Your speaker or display will provide weather information from your device address.
- “Hey Google, what is the weather in Mountain View?” Speaker or display will provide weather information from the location you specified.
(Optional) Get weather forecasts for your places of interest
If you’d like to receive weather forecasts for places of interest outside of your device address, set up Voice Match and personal results. You’ll get updates for meaningful changes in the weather like forecast swings for high winds, rain, or snow at places you may be interested in visiting in the next few hours.
Fix problems
- Make sure you've set your weather units in the Google Home app . Note: This can’t be done using your voice.
- Make sure you've set your work and home locations either in the Google Home app or in Google Maps. Note: This can’t be done using your voice.
- Confirm your device address.
- If speaker or display doesn't provide the information you requested, be more specific with your request.
