When you link your TVs and Google Nest or Home speakers or displays, you can use Google Assistant to control music and video.
What you need
The following Cast devices can play media on your TV using speakers or displays:
- Chromecast
- Chromecast Ultra
- TV that works with Google Cast
Link a TV or Chromecast that’s set up and connected to Wi-Fi
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, Google TV Streamer, speaker, or display.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Add to a room.
- Under "Where is this device?" choose a room tap Next.
Set up and link a new TV
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, Google TV Streamer, speaker, or display.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Devices Add Google Nest or partner device .
- Tap the home you want to add the device to Next.
- Tap the device you want to set up Next.
- Make sure that the code shown on the TV matches the code shown on your mobile device.
- To send anonymous data that helps us improve devices, tap Yes, I'm in. To opt out, tap No thanks.
- Tap the room where you're setting your device up Next.
- Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect your device to Next.
- Tap Next.
- To choose whether to receive emails about your device, tap Sign up or No thanks.
- Choose which video services you want to add Next.
- Tap Continue Continue.
Note: If you get an "Error when linking device" error message, you must factory reset your Chromecast device.
Unlink a device
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, Google TV Streamer, speaker, or display.
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Favorites or Devices .
- Tap and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings Remove device.
