Privacy Mode can give you added control over who can access your home during a certain time. When Privacy Mode is on, it disables Google Nest × Yale Lock’s keypad so it can’t be unlocked by entering a passcode on the keypad. You can turn Privacy Mode on and off with the Nest app or on the lock itself.
For example, you can use Privacy Mode when you’re taking a nap and don’t want unexpected guests with Home Entry Only access to enter your home. It completely disables the keypad so it can’t be unlocked by entering a passcode. People outside the home will need to use the Nest app to turn off Privacy Mode and unlock their door.
There are a few ways to turn Privacy Mode on and off. You can:
- Use the app.
- Press the white button on your lock.
- Turn off Privacy Mode by using the thumb turn below the white button.
Important:
-
Privacy Mode does not provide an extra layer of security. It only helps to limit access for those with Home Entry Only access.
-
Make sure your lock is online and connected to Wi-Fi before you turn on Privacy Mode so that you can still use the app to unlock your door.
- Always make sure members of your home have Full access and the Nest app installed. For instance, if you have Privacy Mode enabled and someone doesn’t have their phone when they arrive home, they won’t be able to unlock the door. See more details below on sharing your Nest home. Visit the Nest Support site to learn more about Family Accounts and inviting people to access your Nest home.
