Pixel Buds won't connect to my device

1. Forget Bluetooth® device on your phones

  1. Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings and forget Google Pixel Buds.
  2. Leave the charging case open and ensure the Pixel Buds are securely seated inside.
  3. Hold the pairing button for 3 seconds.
  4. If you see the bouncing white case status light, your device is ready to pair.
  5. Look for a pop-up notification on your phone that will take you through the rest of the setup.
  6. On some Android devices, you may need to look for your Google Pixel Buds in the Bluetooth settings menu and add them as a new device.

2. Ensure your earbuds are responding

  1. Plug the charging case into a power source using the included USB-A to USB-C® cable.
  2. Remove the Pixel Buds from the case.
  3. Replace one earbud and watch for the earbuds status light to blink when the earbud is inserted into the case. The light will turn orange if the earbud is charging or white if it is fully charged.
  4. Replace the other earbud and watch for the earbuds status light to blink. If either earbud is charging, the light will be orange. If both are fully charged the light will be white.

3. Reset your Google Pixel Buds

Note: Resetting the Pixel Buds and case will reset all their settings, including the name of the device and preferences for enabling and disabling features. For Pixel Buds Pro 2, this includes the ability to locate them through Find My Device.

  1. Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings and forget Google Pixel Buds.
  2. Plug the charging case into a power source using a USB-C® cable.
  3. Ensure the Pixel Buds are seated within the charging case and leave the charging case open.
  4. Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the case for 30 seconds.
  5. When the earbuds status light (for Google Pixel Buds, this is the light inside the opened case) stops bouncing, let go of the pairing button.
  6. The earbuds status light will blink white and orange until the reset is complete, and then start bouncing white. Your Google Pixel Buds will be reset and should be ready to pair immediately.

You will need to forget and re-pair any other devices Pixel Buds were paired with.

Buds do not respond inside of the case

Before attempting to reset your charging case, it is important to verify that your Pixel Buds are unable to respond to any interactions with the charging case. To test this:

  1. Remove and replace the Pixel Buds inside of the charging case, gently pressing them into their slots to ensure they are seated properly.
  2. Once seated, press the case button.

If working properly, pressing the case button should toggle between the charging case battery level (white LEDs ) and the Pixel Buds' charging status (green LED ). This indicates your buds are able to respond to the case and no further action is necessary.

If you're unable to toggle to a green LED  by pressing the charging case button with the Pixel Buds inside of the charging case, begin the reset process:

Reset your charging case

  1. Remove the Pixel Buds from the charging case.
  2. Press and hold the charging case button for 40 seconds. (Upon initial button press, white LEDs  will appear).
Button located above right Pixel Bud in charging case
  3. After 7 seconds, the LEDs will turn off; continue holding the charging case button.
  4. At the end of 40 seconds, the leftmost LED will dimly flash amber  7 times .
After resetting your charging case, the Pixel Buds will respond while inside the case. This includes the following:
  • Charging the Pixel Buds
  • Checking the battery level of your Pixel Buds and charging case.
  • Pairing your Pixel Buds to your mobile device.

Ensure you can toggle between LEDs

  1. Replace the Pixel Buds inside the case.
  2. Verify that you can toggle between white LEDs  and a single green LED  by pressing the charging case button.

Re-pair your Pixel Buds with your phone

  1. While the charging case shows a green LED ; hold the case button for 3 seconds.
  2. If you see one white LED pulsing , your device is ready to pair.
  3. Look for a pop-up notification on your phone that will take you through the rest of the setup.
  4. On certain Android devices, you may need to look for your Google Pixel Buds in the Bluetooth settings menu and add them as a new device.
