A fingerprint sensor is built into the Pixel Tablet's power button. You can use your fingerprint to unlock your Pixel Tablet whether it's docked or undocked.
- Set up your fingerprint on your Pixel Tablet.
- When your tablet is locked, touch and hold your fingerprint on the power button without pressing it.
- Your tablet will unlock.
Note: Some features aren’t available in all countries or languages.
If you set up a fingerprint on your Pixel Tablet, you also need to create a backup PIN, pattern or password to use. For security reasons, sometimes your tablet will ask you to enter your backup unlock method. This is required after:
- Your fingerprint isn't recognized after a few tries.
- You restart (reboot) your device.
- You switch to a different user.
- More than 48 hours have passed since you last unlocked using your backup unlock method.
Use your fingerprint to unlock your Pixel Tablet when your screen is off
You can choose whether your fingerprint can unlock your device when your screen is off:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Security & privacy Device lock Fingerprint Unlock.
- If prompted, enter your PIN, pattern, or password.
- Turn Touch to unlock anytime on or off.
Note: Turning this setting on can make accidental unlocking more likely.
