You can link your favorite streaming video or music services on your Pixel Tablet. Because these services are linked to Google Assistant, you can watch a TV show or listen to music hands-free. You can also pick the default services used by Google Assistant when you say something like, "Hey Google, play some music."
Important:
- Some of these steps work only on Android 15 and up. Learn how to update your Android version.
- Some features aren't available in all countries or languages.
- To dock your Pixel Tablet and use Hub Mode, you need a Charging Speaker Dock.
- You might need to unlock the tablet before you can use Google Assistant voice commands to play news, radio, podcasts, or other media from certain apps and services.
- When you download the Gemini mobile app and set up Gemini as your primary assistant, it will replace Google Assistant when your tablet is unlocked. Your Pixel Tablet will continue to use Google Assistant when locked, including in Hub Mode.
- If a feature you rely on isn’t supported in your Gemini mobile app, you can switch back to Google Assistant. Learn how to switch back to Google Assistant.
Link video, music, radio, and podcast services
Link your favorite music and video services to easily access them using Google Assistant when your tablet is locked and docked in Hub Mode.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Hub Mode Assistant Video.
- Under "Add a service", choose the video service you want to connect to.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: You can also access these settings in the Google Home app:
- Open your device's Google Home app .
- Tap Settings Video or Live TV.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Hub Mode Assistant Music.
- Under "More music services", tap the music service you want to connect to.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Hub Mode Assistant See all Assistant Settings.
- Tap Radio the radio service you want to connect to.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

- Tap Podcasts the podcast service you want to connect to.

Pick your default music and podcast services
Important: When you download the Gemini mobile app and set up Gemini as your primary assistant, you might need to set up separate default media services for when your Pixel Tablet is unlocked. Your Assistant default media services will continue to work when your tablet is locked. Learn more about Extensions in Gemini Apps.
If you link more than one media service to your Pixel Tablet, for example two different streaming music services, you can choose which one plays by default. When you ask Google Assistant to play a song and don't specify a service, it will open the default one.
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Hub Mode Assistant.
- Tap a setting:
- Music: Under "Your music services", tap the service you want to set as default.
- Video: Under "Default services", tap the service you want to set as default.
Tip: To manage your other media services, for example radio services, open your device's Settings app tap Hub Mode Assistant See all Assistant settings tap the service you want to manage, such as Radio.
Note: You can also access these settings in the Google Home app:
- Open your device's Google Home app .
- Tap Settings under "Services", tap a service type tap the service you want to link, manage, or set as default.
