You can make calls and send text messages from your Google Pixel Watch1. During set up, you can approve access to your phone's contact list by managing the linked Google Account on file.
If you can't make calls or receive SMS/MMS messages, go to Fix phone call and text message issues on Pixel Watch.
Requirements

- Cellular service for your watch
- Google Pixel Watch LTE does not require you to have a new number but you will need to set up a separate line. After you pair the watch with your phone and activate the 4G LTE option with a compatible carrier, your watch will share the same mobile number as your phone.
- For Google Pixel Watch Wi-Fi:
- Connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Your phone physically close: You cannot make or receive calls or send and receive texts unless your phone is nearby
Google Pixel Watch LTE: Verify that you have a cellular watch
- On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down tap Settings .
- Tap Connectivity Mobile.
If you don't see a Mobile setting, your watch does not have cellular service. You must have a Google Pixel Watch LTE in order to get cellular service on your watch. You must use the same carrier for both your watch and phone service.
Google Pixel Watch Wi-Fi: Verify that you are connected to Bluetooth
- On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down tap Settings .
- Tap Connectivity Bluetooth turn on Bluetooth.
- Make sure your nearby phone is connected to Bluetooth as well.
Phone calls
Make and receive calls with Google Pixel Watch using the built-in microphone and speaker or Bluetooth-connected headphones.
Note: A nearby phone is not required to make or receive a call with Google Pixel Watch 4G LTE.
- On Google Pixel Watch, press the side button next to the crown.
- Scroll down tap Contacts.
- Select or search for a contact name.
- Tap the chosen contact name.
- To place a call, tap the phone next to their number .
Missed calls
If you have missed calls that you haven't gotten notifications for, make sure that you're not muting call notifications.
- On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Make sure that the modes that pause notifications are turned off.
Can't make outgoing calls
- Confirm that all steps were fully completed during setup.
- Check your connection to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi or LTE.
Text and SMS messages
With the Android messaging app set as the default messaging client on your phone, you can send and receive text and SMS messages on Google Pixel Watch.
Note: Google Pixel Watch syncs texts with your phone so your connected phone must be online.
Type and send a Text or SMS message
Answer a message or by tapping a contact's name from your watch.
- On Google Pixel Watch, press the crown.
- Scroll down tap Contacts.
- Select or search for a contact name.
- Tap the chosen contact name.
- To draft a message, tap the message box next to their number .
Use Smart Reply (English only) to quickly respond to messages by tapping on a suggested response.
Note: Smart Reply responses are available for Text and SMS messages only. Smart Reply is not currently available for responding to email messages.If you have trouble sending or receiving messages, make sure that your phone and watch meet the requirements.
Use Google Assistant to call or text
Calls: Ask Google Assistant to make and answer a call or by tapping a contact's name from your watch.
Texts: Ask Google Assistant to send a text or read and reply with swipe actions.
