Manage your developer account information (for accounts that are not yet Play Console Requirements-verified)

The information in this article only applies to developer accounts that have not yet completed verification to comply with our Play Console Requirements policy. If you have already successfully verified your account, go to this article.

In July 2023, we announced new verification requirements for anyone creating new Play Console developer accounts. We're now rolling out these verification requirements to all existing Google Play developers. This article contains guidance on what you'll need to do, and when.

If you need to update your Google Play developer account information, you can make changes using Play Console.

Set up or change account information

Developer information shown to users on Google Play

If your contact details, developer name, or physical address changes, make sure to update your information in Play Console. Only the account owner can change the developer profile settings and the information you provide must comply with Google Play's Developer Program Policies.

Contact details

  1. Open Play Console.
  2. Go to All Apps and select an app.
  3. On the left menu, go to Grow users > Store presence > Store settings.
  4. Under "Store listing contact details," type your contact email address or website. A contact email address is required to publish or update apps on Google Play. Your contact email address doesn't have to be the same account you use to sign in to your developer account.
  5. Save your changes.

Developer name

  1. Open Play Console.
  2. Go to Developer page.
  3. Next to "Developer name," type the developer name you want to display on Google Play.
  4. Save your changes.

Physical address

Developer accounts with paid apps or in-app purchases must add a physical address to their accounts. If a developer account with paid apps or in-app purchases doesn't have a physical address, it may result in the account's suspension from Google Play.

  1. Open Play Console.
  2. Go to Developer page.
  3. Next to the Physical address, type your valid address where you may be contacted. Note that this will be displayed on Google Play.
  4. Save your changes.
Contact information used by Google Play to contact you

Since 2021, developer account owners wanting to update their contact details (for example, email address and contact phone number) must first declare their account type (Personal or Organization) and provide certain required information if they have not yet done so.

As part of choosing your account type, you will be required to verify the contact email address and contact phone number that you provide.

Only the account owner can change developer profile settings. Your contact email address doesn't have to be the same account you use to sign in to your developer account.

  1. Open Play Console.
  2. Go to Account details page.
  3. Select your developer account type.
  4. Complete all the fields for your chosen account type.
    • For a Personal account, you must provide the following information:
      • Contact name
      • Contact email address, which must be verified
      • Contact address
      • Contact phone number in international format, which must be verified

Phone numbers in international format begin with a plus (+) sign, followed by the country code, the area code, and the phone number:

        +(Country code)(Area code)(Phone number)

        Examples: +14155552671, +441234567890

    • For an Organization account, you must provide the following information:
      • Organization name
      • Organization address
      • Organization phone number, which must be verified
      • Contact name
      • Contact email address, which must be verified
        • Tip: We will use this to contact you about your account. We recommend using an email address associated with your organization, not a personal email address.

      • Contact phone number in international format
  5. Save your changes.

Account owner email address and country

The account owner's email address and country can't be changed. However, you can use a different email address (username) to identify your Google Account. You can also create a new account using a different email address or country and transfer your apps to your new account.

Accounts with published or unpublished apps

To transfer apps to a new account, go to our app transfer checklist.

Accounts without apps

If you haven't published any apps using your existing Play Console account, you can create a new account and cancel your existing one.

Payments profile linked to your developer account

After you've created and linked a payments profile to your Play Console account, your linked accounts and payments country setting can't be changed.

If you want to change the payments profile linked to your developer account, you can create a new developer account and payments profile and link the new accounts.

Tip: Payments profile balances can't be transferred between accounts. If you have a payments profile with an outstanding or pending balance, it's a good idea to keep that account open until any remaining balances have been paid out.
