Fix problems loading a book

Use this page to troubleshoot if your book:
  • Doesn’t download
  • Doesn’t open
  • Won’t load a page
If you use a Google Account managed by your work or school, books may not load. Contact your organisation's technical staff for more information.

Step 1: Check your connection and updates

  1. Make sure that your iPhone or iPad is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile network.
  2. Check that your Play Books app is updated to the latest version.

Step 2: Remove and re-download the book

  1. To remove the eBook or audiobook, on the cover, tap More More and then Remove download.
  2. To reload and open the eBook or audiobook, tap its cover again.

Step 3: Reload the Google Play Books app

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Play Books app Play Books.
  2. To reload the app, from the top of the homepage, pull down.

Step 4: Sign out and sign back in

  1. Open the Play Books app Play Books
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Next to your name, tap the down arrow Down arrow.
  4. Tap Manage accounts on this device and then Remove from this device and then Remove.
  5. Tap Sign in and then Continue. Follow the prompts to sign back in.
