You can explore recommendations and watch movies and shows from your streaming services in the Google TV app .
Get the Google TV app
The Google TV app is automatically installed on your Android device.
If you can't find Google TV app:
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store .
- Search for
Google TV
. - Tap Update or Install.
Navigate the Google TV app
- Highlights: Personalized insights and news for you to learn more about the movies and shows that you like.
- For you: Recommendations based on what you watch and the streaming services that you add to your account.
- Shop: Movies that you can rent or buy.
- Your stuff: The movies and shows you previously purchased through Google TV, Play Movies & TV (previously), Android TV, or YouTube (except newly purchased TV shows on YouTube) on any of your eligible devices. You can also find movies and shows you added to your watchlist.
Google TV users with an app version older than 4.27 have a limited experience where:
- You can access content that's already in your library.
- When you click Manage Services, an empty list of distributors, a spinner, or an error message displays.
Tip: It’s recommended that you update the app. If you can’t update the app, use the YouTube app to access your existing purchases.
Add the Google TV widget to your home screen
Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 9 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.
- On the home screen of your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold an empty space.
- Tap Widgets .
- Find and select the Google TV app.
- To place the widget on your home screen, touch and hold it.
- Slide the widget to where you want it.
- Lift your finger.
