Unsubscribe from an email

If you get frequent promotional emails and newsletters in Gmail, you can unsubscribe from them. After you've unsubscribed, it may take a few days for you to stop receiving emails from the mailing list.

Unsubscribe from a promotional email or newsletter

Important: To unsubscribe, some senders may require you to go to their website. Instead of an unsubscribe option, you'll get a 'Go to website' option in the email.

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Open an email that you want to unsubscribe from.
  3. Next to the sender's name, click Unsubscribe.
  4. In the pop-up, click Unsubscribe or Go to website.
  5. Optional: After you've unsubscribed, in the banner, click Move to spam.

Tip: When you unsubscribe, you may find a unique identifier for a mailing list or list ID instead of the sender's name.
