To change the appearance of your Gmail messages, use formatting options.

Format your message
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top left, click Compose.
- At the bottom of the message, click Formatting options .
Turn plain text mode on or off
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top left, click Compose.
- At the bottom of the message, click More options Plain text mode.
Insert links in your message
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top left, click Compose.
- Enter your message.
- Highlight the text where you want to insert the link.
- At the bottom, click Insert .
- You can also press Ctrl + K.
- At the bottom field, paste the URL you want to use.
- Click Apply.
Change your default text style
You can select a text style that applies to all new emails you write.
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top right, click Settings See all settings.
- Scroll down to the "Default text style" section.
- Change the text in the box to be the style you want for your emails.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
