If you drive a car, you can create a vehicle profile in Google Maps.
Change your vehicle settings
- On your mobile device, open the Google Maps app .
- Tap your profile picture or initial Settings Your vehicle.
- Based on the vehicle you drive, select your engine type:
- If you drive a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, choose Gas or Diesel.
- If you drive a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) vehicle, choose Gas.
- If you drive a hybrid or plug-in hybrid that mostly runs with fuel, choose Hybrid.
- If applicable, choose compatible plugs and adapters.
- If you drive an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid that mostly runs on electricity, choose Electric.
- Choose compatible plugs and adapters.
Change your vehicle profile after you get driving directions
- On your mobile device, open the Google Maps app .
- Search or tap a place on the map.
- Tap Directions.
- At the top right, tap Menu Options Your vehicle.
- Select your engine type.
Search for compatible EV charging stations
If your vehicle profile is set to "Hybrid" or "Electric," you can search for charging stations that have their compatible EV plugs available:
- On your mobile device, open the Google Maps app .
- Search:

. - Under “EV plugs,” tap Any plugs or Your plugs.
Connect your vehicle profile with Google Maps
If Google Maps is built into your vehicle, you can connect it to the Google Maps app on your mobile device. Compatible plugs for your vehicle will automatically show up in your vehicle profile and in your charging station search results.
- On your mobile device, open the Google Maps app .
- Tap your profile picture or initial Settings Your vehicle.
- Under “Connected vehicles,” select the vehicle you’d like to connect.
