Before a meeting
Before you join a Google Meet meeting, you can use the green room self-check to check your appearance and audio.
- On your computer, go to Google Meet.
- Select the meeting that you want to join.
- Before you join the meeting, at the bottom of your preview tile, you’ll find your peripheral devices, such as mic, speaker, and camera.
- To change your peripheral, click the dropdown arrow and select your preferred device.
- You can also click More options at the top right of your preview tile Settings and select Audio or Video .
- To check your audio and video, at the bottom of the preview tile:
- To test your microphone, click Microphone and speak.
- If the mic bar moves, your mic works.
- To test your speaker, click Speaker Test speakers .
- If you hear a test sound, your speaker works.
- To test your camera, click Camera .
- If you see your video in the preview tile, your camera works.
- To test your microphone, click Microphone and speak.
- When ready to join the meeting, click Join now.

You can adjust your microphone, camera, and speaker in a meeting.

Important: When you use mismatched microphone and external speaker devices, it might cause an echo.
- When you’re in a meeting, next to the microphone icon , click the Arrow . A pop-up displays for your audio devices.
- To change your microphone, on the microphone , click the Drop down arrow .
- If the mic bar moves, your mic works.
- To change your speaker, on the speaker , click the Drop down arrow .
- To test your speaker, click Speaker Test Speakers .
- If you hear a test sound, your speaker works.
Adjust your camera settings
- When you’re in a meeting, next to the Camera , click the arrow . A pop-up displays for your camera device.
- To change your camera, click the drop down arrow within the pop-up.
- To adjust audio and video settings, select More options Settings .
- Audio settings:
- In the settings panel, click Audio.
- Change your microphone and speakers settings.
- Video settings:
- In the settings panel, click Video.
